Nadeem Zaman
Nadeem Zaman is a community activist who dedicated himself every day to fighting hate and building bridges of understanding. In 2022, Nadeem founded the Center for Excellence in Community Services (CECS). Through this organization, the Muslim community had a new vehicle for advocacy, activism and awareness on critical issues of the day. Through regular interfaith programming, CECS has brought hundreds of Muslim, Christian and Jewish leaders and community members together with their elected representatives.
When levels of Antisemitism and Islamophobia spiked in October of 2023 and in the months following, Zaman realized that CECS needed to pivot to take these hatreds on and show that Muslim and Jewish community members must unite to tackle common challenges, to speak with elected officials and thereby enhance those critical lines of communication.
Nadeem also joined the Muslim-Jewish Advisory Council (MJAC), an organization devoted to bringing Muslim and Jewish leaders together to combat Islamophobia and Antisemitism, advocate for accurate reporting and prosecution of hate crimes; and promote the role of Religious minorities in American Society. Recently, Nadeem was named as a co-chair of the group, providing visionary leadership towards this important mission.
