Carter Brown
Carter Brown is the co-founder and executive director of BTAC, the National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition, and has led the way in advocating for the Black trans community here in Dallas and in the rest of the country.
Carter has drawn on his own experiences as a Black trans man to shape the community’s conversation about the particular needs of Black trans people. His expertise has led to his being invited to testify before Congress in Washington D.C. in support of the Equality Act, which would ensure anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ Americans in key areas like healthcare, housing, and employment.
Carter is an exemplar of bridge-building and advocacy, reaching out to build a network of care and concern for people our city often leaves unacknowledged and undefended.
